Ishikiri Tsurugiya ShrineJapan

To contribute each and every one’s thoughts with cultural artifacts to the next generation.

These are the visuals created for crowdfunding the project of creating and dedicating the recreations of the sword and arrows of the “Tachi Ishikirimaru”, the crucial artifacts in possession of the Ishikiri Tsurugiya Shrine.
With a history of 2677 years, the sabre intended to be dedicated to the deity of Ishikiri Tsurugiya Shrine has yet to be offered. Since the “Tachi Ishikirimaru” has been recognized as a crucial artifact, it cannot be offered at the altar of the gods. There, as the era changes from “Heisei” to “Reiwa”, as a celebration a project of recreating and offering the legendary sabre Ishikirimaru, as well as the arrows to the deities was launched by the crowdfunding site “BOOSTER”, with the cooperation of the online game “Touken Ranbu”, in which the sabre Ishikirimaru made an appearance in personified character.
WORLD FESTIVAL was in charge of creating visuals to deliver the meaning of this project to as much people as possible. As a vital part of Japanese culture, we created the visuals with intent to not only relay the importance to those directly related, but so that each and every individual could convey such thoughts to the next generation. In the end, 7,890 people supported our cause, and we were able to reach the targeted goal in funds. After reaching the crowdfunding goal, a new project recording the visuals of the creation of the recreated sabre as well as arrows was launched as a separate project.
The recreation of the “Tachi Ishikirimaru” and the arrows are not only of the swordsmith’s and bow and arrow craftman’s handiwork, but also the culmination of the skill and craftmanship of the lacquer craftsmen, Emakishi, etc. around the nation, all professionals in their area of expertise. To grasp the thoughts of each craftsman who took part in this project, please view the video below.
