Reflecting upon one’s lives, and the future of Mother Earth

We filmed the documentary footage of “Sustainable Yap, aiming for a sustainable Yap Island”, headed by NPO corporation ECOPLUS, which provides an invitational program and a place to educate those on how to create a sustainable society.
ECOPLUS, operating for a quarter of a century from 1992, has conducted dispatching of youth to the island of Yap, and continued a hands-on learning experience between Japanese and Yap local youth. And on this occasion, from March 11th to 20th, 2018, inviting 9 youths from Yap Island of the Federated States of Micronesia, we conducted “Sustainable Yap, aiming for a sustainable Yap Island”, aimed at brainstorming a sustainable society, working with the youth of Japan.
WORLD FESTIVAL Inc., through the span of 10 days, followed the events of the program conducted by these youths. Though Yap Island retains the deep-rooted traditional culture and surrounded by the beautiful local nature, their everyday lives have been influenced by the introduction of the culture and habits of developed nations, and their everyday lives have slowly but surely been affected. Positioned at this crossroad, by interacting with Japanese college students working adults, what will these 9 individuals feel, what will they learn? By touching upon newfound aspects and looking back on their origins, we followed their growth and evolution in a documentary film.
